As Galvatron's forces wreak ruination on the already dilapidated Cybertron, leaving the Autobots little choice but to withdraw into the planet, the Quintessons gleefully calculate the time left before victory is assured, relishing in their having lured Galvatron with false tales of a Decepticon Matrix. On Earth, the battle station-mode Trypticon moves to Autobot Headquarters to level it to the ground, only temporarily impeded by a small line of defense in the form of Pipes, Warpath, Beachcomber, Bumblebee, Outback, Swerve, and Tailgate. The unstoppable leviathan changes into an even more menacing form -- that of a dinosaur -- and charges forth. Meanwhile, the Quintessons intercept a transmission from Blaster and learn where Metroplex's replacement transformation cog can be found. They send a new warrior team, the animalistic Predacons, to deal with Marissa, Blurr, and Wheelie. Shortly after, Trypticon literally wades through the defending Autobots and destroys the entire volcano, forever silencing Teletraan 1 before heading towards his next target and natural adversary, Metroplex. On Cybertron, where the conflict rages stronger than ever, Blitzwing discovers the Quintessons' plan to deactivate all Transformers by way of a special lever located deep in the planet, but Galvatron's unwillingness to heed Blitzwing's warning drives the Triple Changer to beseech the Autobots to help him save them all. As this happens, the dexterous Autobot Sky Lynx rescues Marissa and the others from the Predacons on Io and returns to Earth with the cog in the nick of time. However, just after the successfully transformed Metroplex has defeated Trypticon, Galvatron blasts Rodimus Prime and Blitzwing as they are about to destroy the lever, instead activating it and rendering all Transformers immobile. But as the Quintessons revel in their triumph, Spike destroys the lever and returns the robotic race to life. The enraged Galvatron chases after his treacherous allies while the Autobots are left to consider the unsettling knowledge that their enemies are no longer limited to the Decepticons.
