As a group of Autobots move along a beach, a Decepticon battle unit commences a surprise attack. During the fight, Beachcomber discovers a hidden patch of nature, rich in wildlife and scenery as beautiful as it comes. No doubt appreciating the irony of a paradise in the center of conflict, Beachcomber befriends the animals and finds an unusual body of liquid, glimmering brightly with the colour of gold. The geologist recognizes it as electrum, an amalgam of gold and silver that renders any mechanism that bathes in it invulnerable, complete with a golden finish. As Beachcomber resolves to keep the place secret, the ground trembles and he hurries back to his friends. Shortly after, Thrust makes the same discovery, and after dipping in the lagoon to become indestructible, he rejoins the fray. The Decepticons abduct Perceptor and Seaspray, leaving Beachcomber and Powerglide no choice but to return to Autobot Headquarters for help. Meanwhile, Thrust reports his finding to Megatron, and the Decepticons fly to the lagoon to become unassailable. They celebrate by laying waste to the idyllic spot, even seizing and jailing the aghast Beachcomber. A rescue operation proves ineffective; not even the immeasurable power of Omega Supreme is enough to puncture the Decepticons' coat of immunity. Fortunately, as the Decepticons set out for a final attack on Autobot Headquarters, Beachcomber, Perceptor, and Seaspray manage to break free and return to the lagoon just as the other Autobots locate it. When the Decepticons return, the electrum-coated Autobots confidently await them, securing victory as the effect of the compound fades from their foes. The Decepticons retreat, but not before destroying the lagoon and the entire area, leaving Beachcomber to brood over the bittersweet triumph.
