SYNOPSIS

The Autobots complete the conversion of shuttlecraft to forge five sleek warrior jets and return to Vector Sigma for cybernetic personality-programming. However, as Megatron has taken the key to Earth with him, achieving their aim seems impossible until Alpha Trion comes up with the answer: sacrificing himself by merging his power supply with the computer to reactivate it. Optimus initially demurs at Alpha's selfless proposal, but the elder convinces him that there is no other option. The union takes place and Alpha Trion dies, giving life to the new additions, dubbed Aerialbots. Before the Autobots depart, Alpha Trion warns them from within Vector Sigma of the key's destructive power on Earth, but after fleeing from Cybertron by a hair's breadth and finally welcoming the Aerialbots to their new home, the Autobots barely manage to evacuate Omega Supreme before he explodes. While Omega is repaired, the Autobots go to the army base, only to be attacked by the military. However, the soldiers realize their erroneous judgment when the Stunticons strike and demolish the Autobots with much aplomb, only halting their assault at Megatron's command. Shockwave, having furtively witnessed the Aerialbots' creation, informs Megatron of the developments and the Decepticon leader discovers that the key de-energizes organic matter and turns it into metal. Megatron instantly sets out to do so to the entire planet. Meanwhile, the Aerialbots are so disenchanted with the humans that they desert, even leaving behind leader Silverbolt. He eventually makes them admit to the considerable debt owed to the Autobots as well as the humans' worth, and as the Stunticons threaten to wipe out their enemies, the Aerialbots enter the fray and save their creators. A titanic battle ensues as the Stunticons form the giant Menasor and the Aerialbots unite into Superion, the latter winning with the restored Omega Supreme's help. The Decepticons withdraw, but knowing the continued danger of the key, Silverbolt follows Megatron and knocks it from him, forever ending the threat to Earth by blasting the key to shreds.
